About the Author

Hi, I'm Jessica.

Author, avid reader, finance nerd, and fantasy enthusiast — writing books for every season of a life well-lived. Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm so glad you're here.

The Writer

The same curiosity that drives the numbers drives the stories.

I'm Jessica Rohrer — I write under my maiden name, and I've been writing books since 2019 under my own publishing house, Rohrer Publishing.

My catalog spans three categories — Fiction, Finance, and Family — because a well-lived life deserves books for every season of it. To date, I've published books on personal finance, wedding planning, journaling, and parenting a picky eater. Fiction has been part of my writing life for a long time, and when the first novel is ready for readers, it'll land here.

"Every book I write starts the same way — with a question I can't stop thinking about and the belief that someone else is probably wondering the same thing."

My nonfiction is direct, practical, and warm — I write the way I'd explain something to a friend over coffee. My fiction tends toward sci-fi and fantasy, because those are the genres I grew up loving and the ones I still reach for when I want to disappear into a book.

The connecting thread across all of it? I write the books I wish I'd had. The finance book I wish someone had handed me at 22. The picky eater book I wish my parents could've read when I was growing up. The fiction I wish was on the shelf when I was looking for a new world to fall into. If that sounds like the kind of reader you are, you're in the right place.

The Life Behind the Books

Nashville, a husband, a son, and a very good dog.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee with my husband Wes, our son Graham, and our black lab Chaco — who is 11 years old and has been our first baby since long before the human one came along.

Wes and I got married in Cancun, which is the short version of why we share a love of the water, beach, music, and travel. Graham is small and wonderful and has changed how I think about pretty much everything, including how I write.

When I'm not at my desk, I'm usually on a walk along the Cumberland River greenway, exploring somewhere new, or playing the flute with the Nashville Community Concert Band — a part of my life I've paused for now but will come back to.

Behind the Scenes

A few things to know about me.

The small-but-telling details

People are always surprised to know that...

I used to be an extremely picky eater. As in, I only ate peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese, and french fries. I conquered it completely as an adult while living in Brussels and traveling all over Europe — which is where the book came from, and which taught me I can do pretty much anything I set my mind to.

I grew up in...

Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. I spent a few years abroad in Brussels, Belgium before making Nashville home. Those overseas years changed me — travel does that.

I start every morning with...

Journaling and my Oracle cards in my comfy chair with a soft blanket, then breakfast and a walk with Graham. (Yes, I wrote two journaling books. Yes, I actually journal. That's where they came from.)

My go-to drink is...

Depends on the setting. I'm a wine and cheese girl at the end of a good day, but in the mornings I reach for hot cocoa instead of coffee. Always have.

What I'm always reading...

Fantasy and sci-fi, mostly. Tolkien, Herbert, Rowling, Lynch, Riordan. I keep a stack by the bed that never gets smaller because I'm always adding to it. Send me recommendations — I mean it.

Above all, I value...

Freedom. Time freedom, financial freedom, location freedom. Every decision I make — how I write, how I build businesses, how we raise Graham — comes back to this.

The Reader in Me

I write because I can't stop reading.

I've always been a reader first. Fantasy, sci-fi, the kind of books that build worlds you can live in for a while. The writers who shaped me aren't the ones who taught me to write — they're the ones who taught me that stories matter, and that a good book can sit with you for years after you close the cover.

Here are a few of the stacks I keep coming back to:

Tolkien Dune Harry Potter The Lies of Locke Lamora
